At Milk Hair we regularly invite hair models to help our emerging stylists refine their craft, learn new techniques, and build their professional portfolios.
Being a model means you receive a professionally supervised hair service while supporting the training and growth of our next generation of stylists.
In most cases, model services are complimentary, as the focus is on education and skill development.
Why We Use Hair Models
Hairdressing is a craft that improves through practice, observation, and real client experience.
Our emerging stylists train under the guidance of senior stylists and educators. Hair models allow them to safely practice techniques such as:
• Precision haircuts
• Colour application and highlighting
• Blow-dry and styling techniques
• Men's Perm or Ladies Perm
• Consultation and sectioning skills
• New trends and advanced techniques
Every model appointment is supervised and guided by an experienced stylist, ensuring quality and safety throughout the service.
What Services Are Available for Models
Model services vary depending on what our stylists are currently learning or practicing.
Common model services include:
• Mens and Ladies Haircuts
• Blow waves and styling
• Colour applications
• Foils and highlighting
• Colour corrections
• Men's and Ladies Perming
• New techniques and trend training
Sometimes we may specifically request models for a particular colour, haircut, or hair type.
Why There Is No Charge
Model appointments are part of our education and training program.
Because the focus is learning and portfolio building:
• Services may take longer than a standard appointment
• Stylists may receive guidance or adjustments from educators
• Photos may be taken for training or portfolio purposes (with permission)
In return for your time and patience, the service is usually complimentary.
What to Expect
Model appointments are a little different from a regular salon visit.
Longer Appointment Times
Services may take 2–4 hours depending on the work being performed. This allows time for learning, discussion, and supervision.
Slower Pace
Emerging stylists work more carefully and deliberately while learning new techniques.
Educator Supervision
A senior stylist or educator will guide the process and may step in when needed to ensure the final result meets salon standards.
Flexibility
Model services are usually booked at specific training times and may be limited to certain days.
Who We Look For
We often look for models who are open to change and interested in supporting the creative process.
This may include people who:
• Are open to new hairstyles or colour ideas
• Have not coloured their hair recently
• Have specific hair types needed for training
• Are happy to allow photos for portfolios or education
We will always discuss the plan with you before starting.
